Lincoln women face feline-related charges

The Lincoln County Humane Society has laid charges against two Town of Lincoln women, aged 31 and 73 years, relating to the removal of 49 cats from a Beamsville home on Feb. 2, 2015.

The LCHS completed its investigation and laid four charges under the Ontario SPCA against each woman:

Count 1: Cause animals to be in distress

Count 2: Fail to provide adequate and appropriate medical attention

Count 3: Fail to provide adequate and appropriate sanitary conditions

Count 4: Fail to provide adequate and appropriate ventilation

The women are scheduled to appear in St. Catharines Provincial Offences Court on April 21, 2015 at 9 a.m. All charges are alleged and accused persons are innocent until proven guilty.

Two more cats have been retrieved bringing the total number of cats to 51. The cats are available for adoption at the LCHS, Fort Erie SPCA and Guelph Humane Society.

Media inquiries can be directed to Kevin Strooband, executive director, Lincoln County Humane Society. 905-682-0200
