Willy’s scores TD with fundraiser

The crew at Smithville’s Touchdown Willy’s has grown its Girls Night In to be the most successful such event in the province.

Angela Daley of the Canadian Cancer Society’s Niagara office said many host “Girls Night In” events, but none more successful than Touchdown Willy’s.

“They do a great job and we really appreciate it,” said Daley, who noted the money goes directly to funding research of women’s cancers.

For Willy’s owner Joann Heaslip, it is all for a great cause.

“I just want to thank all of the wonderful ladies who come out and celebrate the women who have had to endure this terrible disease as well as for their donations towards fighting cancer,” Heaslip said, adding Labatt’s and West Lincoln firefighters are major sponsors of the event.
