Rural driver clocked more than double speed limit

Saturday, Aug. 7 at 9:40 a.m. a member of the Niagara Regional Police Service’s Special Enforcement Unit was conducting a rural speed enforcement exercise on Reg. Rd. 20 in the area of Westbrook Road in the Township of West Lincoln.

The roadway in this area is two lanes wide with multiple turns, undulations and soft gravel shoulders.

A blue 2010 GMC Sierra diesel pickup truck was travelling westbound on Reg. Rd. 20 and was clocked on radar at 164km/hr in the 80 km/hr zone.

The 29-year-old driver from Dunnville was charged with Stunting and issued a court date. His driver’s licence was suspended immediately for seven days, and the pickup truck was impounded for seven days.
