Second tampering of Halloween candy discovered

Sunday, Nov. 1, Niagara Regional Police Service issued a media release warning to parents regarding the discovery of what appeared to be a razor blade located within a candy bar received from “trick or treating” in the area of Thorold.

Further to this discovery, Monday Nov. 2, the NRP also attended a residence in Niagara Falls for another report of a metal blade found within an O’Henry Bar.

During this most recent indicent it was reported that on Oct. 31 a child resident of Niagara Falls, went “trick or treating” in the north end of St. Catharines with friends. Upon returning home the child began to consume an O’Henry bar, bit down and discovered metal.

Upon removing the bar from their mouth a metal razor blade was observed within the chocolate bar.

There were no injuries as a result of this incident however parents are again reminded to remain vigilant in examining their children’s candy and for any tampering to the packaging prior to consumption.

Members of the Niagara Regional Police Service continue to investigate these criminal acts and anyone with information is requested to contact police.
