Beamsville Lions celebrate 75 years serving community

The Beamsville Lions Club celebrated its 75th anniversary of service to Beamsville and surrounding area last month.

Lions 1Trinity United Church hall on King Street was full of Lions, friends, family and visitors from other Lions clubs.  Lions Governor Jim Rohrbach presented the club with a celebratory plaque marking this special occasion.

The guest speaker Lion Ray Charbonneau very cleverly informed the crowd of the origin of Lions Clubs and their double-headed Lion insignia.

Lion Chief Alvin Danyluck announced and presented the highest Lions Awards:

• Melvin Jones Award:

Ken Harrott;

• Helen Keller Award:

Jim Vidal;

• Lion of the Year;

Steve Metelsky.

Lincoln Coun. John Kralt and his wife, Martha, along with Margaret Andrewes and her husband, Phil, represented the Town and Our Town/Our Time Committee respectively.

The 75th Anniversary Committee offered thanks to several people in supporting their big night: Siva at Shoppers; Chris at Tim Horton’s; Andrew at Hendriks Greenhouses; Jim at Shimjelly; Tory at Warner Farms; April at Charlie Bee; and the many area wineries which all contributed to the evening.
